Tag

I don't usually do the tag thing, I don't know why, maybe I'm just lazy but this one seems easy enough(and I love books)
The rules:
1. Pick up the nearest book that is at least 123 pages
2. Turn to page 123.
3. Find the 5th sentence.
4. Post the 5th sentence on your blog.
5. Tag 5 people.

"Her hair was dark grey rather than white, which is why I hadn't noticed her age before."
This is from the Host(which I think anyone who read and loved Twighlight is obligated to read). This book is a little slow going for me, I"m not generally a fan of SciFi but then again I don't really like vampires either. It is getting better the more I read but the begining was a little boring and confusing. I think you all should read it so I have someone to talk to about it!
I tag...Rachel Hansen, Sara Lake, Sally(i don't know your last name!), Jess or Brian, and...Margaret!

Trauma of the Day

Today I was trying to put the sewing machine away...(remember it weighs seriously like 50 pounds) I made it all the way to the bedroom and just as I was about to set it down the handle broke off and the whole thing FELL on my foot! I thought I was going to die. Luckily my dad was just around the corner and he came and helped me. If it doesn't feel better by tomorrow we'll go get xrays, but I'm hoping it will just be fine. I don't think I've ever dropped so many "bombs" in my life!

Sewing 101

So tonight I had this great idea that I could just sew myself a duvet cover for our new appartment. I wanted it to be bright and fun and I couldn't find anything that fit my idea of bright and fun. So...I went to Target and bought a top sheet and a shower curtain and decided to sew them together. I got home and dusted off my mom's 5,000 pound 5,000 year old sewing maching(no exaggeration)and was looking forward to getting to work. I told Molly to clear off the kitchen table so I could get to work. She looked at me and said:
Why? You won't be able to figure out how to do it and you'll get irritated and then leave it here for a week and all the while I could have been doing my homework.
Rude girl. She cleared off the table and I tried to get the sewing maching ready. I have NO idea how to work a sewing machine. I got irritated. BUT instead of giving up I decided it wouldn't be too hard to do by hand...four hours later I am finished. In the end I think it's totally cute(maybe too small for the bed...) and well worth the work.

A Special Delivery

As many of you may have heard I've been a little bored since we moved to Texas..so I decided to order some books online. It turned into quite a hassle but on Wednesday morning I finally got a knock on my door...who was it? The UPS man! Woohoo! I was so excited. Now I will have endless hours of entertainment.

On a side note. I just want to share my new found obsession for the Office. I never really understood what it was or why people thought it was so funny BUT I watched one episode online the other day and now it's all I think about. Matt and I are officially obsessed. I love it.

Apartment Life Is Grand

Well here are some pictures of our apartment that I just know you all have been dying to see.

First we have my lovely new place mats. I think they are very happy little place mats and make eating that much more enjoyable.

Second we have our kitchen. It really actually is a great kitchen. All nice and new and roomy.

And last we have my new favorite shower curtain. I decided to go for a bright summery feel in our temporary place and I love it.

I would have had a much more amusing photo of the bathroom that involved Matt, a computer and the toilet...but...he threw a little fit about it so it couldn't be included. Rats.

Here we have the beautiful landscape surrounding our apartment. I actually don't mind what it looks like so much as I don't like the constant film it leaves behind.

And here we have the grass. It is specifically for dogs(hence the sign Bark Park beside it) and other furry friends. It stinks and has strange bugs flying around it. I wouldn't dare put my toes on it for fear they might fall off.

All sarcasm aside I really do like it here. Texas is warm and great and are apartments are exceptional as far as apartments go.

Crispy

Margaret said I should start taking pictures...I agree...but everytime I get to the pool(internet connection) I realize I've forgoten the camera AGAIN and I don't feel like walking ALL the way back to my apt.(okay so maybe it isn't that far away but sitting on your rented ugly couch playing minesweeper all day tends to make you a little lazy...it is a little far though)
My update for the day is...I am burnt to a crisp! Yesterday while I was blogging and surfing the web for HOURS I was forced to stay on my stomach the whole time or I couldn't see the screen. I thought nothing of it at first. Then after Matt got home and we had dinner(pizza hut...) he said why is your neck all red? I said it isn't. It definitly was red as was the whole back side of my body. I asked Matt to take a picture of my back for the blog and he said no he would not. Oh well. Maybe this will finally teach me my lesson and I will wear one piecers to the pool...no then again maybe not! I just decided instead to stay on my back and fry my belly!! WooHoo!
My sunburn is quite funny looking though and it would have made the post all the more effective...I didn't want to get the computer oily yesterday so I just squirted the oil on and left it where it was...I thought it would blend on it's own...guess not. I am covered in these huge red blotches, especially on my legs. Yikes.

Betsy??

Okay so I'm getting a little obssesed with my blog but oh well...I don't know how I forgot to re-play this story earlier when I posted but it is a gem!

So last night I was wondering what we were going to do for dinner since we have no car and not too much to eat besides cereal...I'm thinking thinking...Pizza, that is easy. Matt wasn't getting home until close to ten so I decided to go ahead and just order a pizza so it would be there when he got home(what a nice wife).

There was no phone book in our apt. and no internet because the clubhouse was closed(we only get wireless at the clubhouse or the pool)...I'm resourcefull, I call 411 and ask for any pizza restaurante in El Paso...this confused the lady a little but we managed.
Ring Ring...Lady answers(you must imagine this conversation with a SLOW southern accent or it will not be effective)
Pizza Hut: May I get your # with area code first
Me: 541
Pizza Hut: 411?
Me: No, (a little louder) 541
Pizza Hut: 554?
Me: No F.I.V.E F.O.U.R O.N.E.....
Pizza Hut: and your name mam
Me: Jessie
Pizza Hut: Bessy?
Me: No JJJJEEEESSSSSIIIIEEEEE
Pizza Hut: Betsy?
Me: No J J Jessie...with a J
Pizza Hut: with a A? AAASSSYY??
Me: Seriously? It's just Jessie, with a J, like JJJJUICE
Pizza Hut: Oh sorry mam
Me: that's okay...I order and tell her our apt address(which is on the same street as the pizza hut I called)
Pizza Hut: I'm sorry mam can you spell that please?
Me: Zaragosa...Z. A. R.
Pizza Hut: Mariposa?
Me: It's the same street name as the store you are in right now...Z A R...are you even in El Paso?
Pizza Hut: No mam, I'm in San Antonio
Me: What?
Pizza Hut: This is the Pizza Hut call center...can I take your order?
Me: unbelievable...never mind thanks
Hang up
I am almost in tears...I was on the phone for 10 min. I was starving. Matt walks in, I tell him the story, he laughs at me, I get mad because I didn't think it was funny, we went out to Mexican with some other apex people...and I was happy again. End of story.

Windy City

Okay so I'm sitting out here at the pool(don't be jealous) trying to check all my blogs and read some good gossip(my life is hard) but I keep getting interupted by the WIND!! I just checked the weather to see how windy it actually was sinceI was almost blown out of my lawn chair...it says it's 40mph....all I know is it is strong and my nice oily legs are covered in red sand. They don't really have grass around here...only in little patches so the whole complex is mostly different colors of sand...very strange. On a good note I just looked up and saw a huge sign for burritos across the street...anyone who knows me knows I LOVE burritos. Nice. That just made my day. We really have no food yet only random odds and ends so I'm getting quite bored of eating at home(alone). Matt is insisting we still don't need to get a t.v. Anyone who knows me also knows I need a t.v. especially since there is no one to talk to from 12-10 at night...how boring. My computer just shut on mefrom the wind! Yikes! Well I guess you can tell that I'm bored because I've blabbed about nothing and have nothing left to say yet I want to keep writing because it's entertaining me.
